open-duet
Open Duet is an open-source workspace for creating named AI agents, giving each one a job and a place to work, and chatting with them over time. It runs on your own computer or a server you control and brings no model of its own: you connect an engine you already use, such as Claude Code or Codex CLI, Gemini CLI or Cursor, any ACP agent, OpenRouter, or an OpenAI-compatible API like Ollama or LM Studio.
Each agent has a name, instructions, model, workspace, memory and approval settings. A lead agent can delegate work to specialists whose work runs in its own conversations and returns to the lead, and you can also gather agents in shared rooms; team leads currently need Claude. Agents keep notes they can recall and that you can review and edit, routines run on a schedule or trigger or on demand, and permission modes (Ask first, Accept edits, Plan only) plus reviewable tool activity keep you in control. Agents can optionally be given an isolated Docker computer, with computer and browser access experimental and off by default.
Conversations, notes, routines and settings stay in the local data folder or your server's database, and workspace files stay in the folders you assign. When an agent answers, the chosen engine receives the prompt and context for that turn under that provider's terms. The project is in active development and labels the desktop app, server and newer team features as still evolving.
