jcode
jcode is a coding agent harness written in Rust whose pitch is performance at scale: run dozens of agents in parallel without melting your machine. The README's own benchmarks put the first headless session at 71.3 MB and each additional one at about 3.3 MB, against roughly 170 to 195 MB per extra session for Claude Code and Codex CLI, and time to first input at 19.1 ms versus hundreds of milliseconds to seconds for other tools. A reproduction script is included.
Its swarm mode lets several agents work in the same repository under a server that manages them. When one agent edits a file another has read, the second is notified and can check the diff. Agents can DM one another, broadcast to all agents on the server or to those in the same repo, and spawn their own teammates, turning the main agent into a coordinator and the rest into workers, headed or headless.
Providers include Claude OAuth and OpenAI Codex OAuth. A self-dev mode has the agent edit, build and test its own source, then reload its binary and continue in your sessions. Install with the jcode.sh script on macOS and Linux. MIT licensed.
