MCP Server Chart is a TypeScript Model Context Protocol server from the AntV visualisation team for chart generation and data analysis. The README says it supports 26+ chart types through tools such as generate_area_chart and generate_bar_chart, and also generate_spreadsheet, which renders a pivot table when rows or values are given and a regular table otherwise. It can be used from desktop MCP clients (Claude, VS Code, Cline, Cherry Studio, Cursor and others) with an npx config (`npx -y @antv/mcp-server-chart`), runs over SSE or Streamable HTTP, can be deployed with Docker, and is also available as a plugin for Dify.

Configuration covers CLI options and environment variables: VIS_REQUEST_SERVER sets a custom chart-generation service URL for private deployment (the default points to an AntV service at antv-studio.alipay.com), SERVICE_ID labels generation records, and DISABLED_TOOLS filters out chart tools you do not want exposed. There is also a section on using it as an agent skill. The code is MIT licensed.

This write-up is based on the project's README and public repository data. We have not hand-tested the tool. Data as of 2026-10-25.

Trade-offs

!By default charts are generated through a hosted AntV service (the VIS_REQUEST_SERVER default), so your chart data is sent to that service unless you set up a private deployment.
!It generates charts from data you pass in; it does not query databases or files itself.
!The tool list is long (26+), so consider DISABLED_TOOLS to avoid overwhelming the assistant's tool selection.
