Vexa sends a bot into Google Meet, Microsoft Teams and Zoom calls and streams speaker-attributed transcripts in real time, through its hosted API or a stack you run yourself. The README says Jitsi join and capture are proven offline but live validation is still pending. On top of the transcripts, self-hosted installs add sandboxed agents that compile meetings into a Markdown knowledge base in a git repository you own; the README states the sandboxed knowledge agents are self-hosted only. If you only need transcription, the README says you can ignore the agent side entirely.

To try it hosted, sign in at vexa.ai and POST to `/bots` with a platform (`google_meet`, `teams`, `zoom` or `jitsi`) and the meeting code, then read `/transcripts/...`; new accounts get $5 of free bot credit with no card, according to the README. To self-host, `make all` pulls the published Docker images and starts the full Compose stack, printing an API key and URLs for a web workbench and the API gateway; `make lite` is a lighter single-container image. It needs Docker 26 or newer and a speech-to-text source (a free token or your own GPU transcription unit), and building from source wants 8 vCPUs and 16 GB RAM. Bots and agents each run in isolated, ephemeral containers. It is Apache-2.0 licensed.

This write-up is based on the project's README and public repository data. We have not hand-tested the tool. Data as of 2026-10-18.

Features

01Real-time, speaker-attributed meeting transcription for multiple platforms (Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Jitsi).
02Knowledge base generation, compiling meeting discussions into portable Markdown files in a git repository.
03Sandboxed AI agents that read and write to the knowledge base, enabling safe and parallel processing.
04Flexible deployment options: hosted service, single-host Docker, or scalable Kubernetes/OpenShift.
05Air-gapped operation for regulated environments, allowing self-hosting with local LLMs and zero data egress.
02

Why choose it

+Joins Meet, Teams and Zoom as a real participant and streams speaker-attributed transcripts live
+Can be fully self-hosted and run air-gapped, so meeting audio stays on your infrastructure
+Meetings turn into plain Markdown files in a git repo you own
+Transcription works as a standalone API without the agent features
03

Trade-offs

!Self-hosting is heavy: Docker 26+, a transcription source, and 8 vCPUs and 16 GB RAM to build from source
!By default `POST /bots` returns 503 when no speech-to-text is configured
!The sandboxed knowledge agents are not part of the hosted service
!A bot joining a meeting is visible to participants; make sure you have consent to record and transcribe
