notion-mcp-server
This repository is Notion's official local MCP server for the Notion API. You create an internal integration in Notion, connect the pages and databases it may access (or grant access page by page), and run the server with npx or Docker using the integration token. A read-only token is possible by giving the integration only the Read content capability.
Version 2.0 moved to the Notion API version 2025-09-03, where data sources replace databases as the main abstraction. Four database tools were replaced by data-source equivalents, two new tools were added (listing data source templates and moving pages), and the total is now 21 tools. Tools are discovered at startup, so clients pick up the new names automatically, but hard-coded prompts that name old tools need updating.
The README opens with an important note: Notion now offers a remote Notion MCP with OAuth sign-in and tools tuned for agents, it is prioritising and only actively supporting that remote server, this local repository may be sunset, and its issues and pull requests are not actively monitored. Our data shows the last push on 2026-09-20.

Who it fits
- You want a local Notion server you run with npx or Docker, using an internal integration token.
- You want access limited to the pages and databases you connect to the integration, or a read-only token.
- Your prompts work with Notion API data sources: v2.0 has 21 tools on the 2025-09-03 API.
- You want the supported option: the README says Notion prioritises its remote Notion MCP and may sunset this repository.
- You need issues answered: the README says issues and pull requests here are not actively monitored.
- You do not want to manage tokens: the remote Notion MCP uses standard OAuth instead.
How it differs
PipesHub indexes Notion with 50+ other sources for cited, permission-aware search. The Notion server reads and edits Notion pages and data sources directly.
