mcp-google-sheets
mcp-google-sheets is a Python MCP server that connects clients such as Claude Desktop to the Google Sheets API. It exposes 19 tools covering creating and listing spreadsheets and sheets, reading and updating cells and ranges, batch updates, formatting and sharing. It runs in one line with `uvx mcp-google-sheets@latest`, which the README recommends over pinning an old version.
Authentication is the main setup cost. You must configure Google Cloud credentials and enable the necessary APIs first. The README strongly recommends a Service Account, set through `SERVICE_ACCOUNT_PATH` and a `DRIVE_FOLDER_ID` for the folder it may work in, and also describes OAuth 2.0 and direct credential injection with `CREDENTIALS_CONFIG`. With a Service Account, listing is limited to the configured Drive folder, which is a useful boundary.
