EdgeEver is an open-source notes and knowledge-base workspace that keeps the classic Evernote three-pane layout. The README explains the motivation by comparing it with Evernote, Obsidian, Memos and SiYuan, and presents EdgeEver as an open, fast option whose sync and self-hosting are fully open source. Features include browser-extension clipping (Xiaohongshu, X, Zhihu, Reddit, GitHub), WeChat chat-history archiving on macOS, attachments up to 1 GiB, AI-generated mind maps, flowcharts and infographics, AI-generated multi-dimensional tables with public collection forms, and a toggle between rich text and Markdown. It supports bring-your-own models through OpenAI-, Anthropic- and Gemini-compatible providers and has a plugin API.

On the AI side it has a built-in MCP endpoint so external agents can read and organize notes, and the desktop app uses the Agent Client Protocol to drive local agents such as Codex and Claude Code. It runs on Cloudflare's free quotas (the README cites roughly 150k short notes and 50k images) or via Docker on a VPS or NAS with `curl -fsSL https://edgeever.org/install.sh | bash`, which pulls the image, generates an administrator password and starts Docker Compose. Data sits in standard SQLite with REST APIs and lossless ZIP export. Clients exist for web, Android, iOS, macOS, Windows and Linux, plus Chrome, Edge and Firefox clippers. A public demo resets daily. It is AGPL-3.0 licensed.

This write-up is based on the project's README and public repository data. We have not hand-tested the tool. Data as of 2026-10-18.
