FinanceToolkit
FinanceToolkit grew out of a problem the author describes: the same metric differs between financial websites. The README gives the example of Microsoft's price-to-earnings ratio on 6 May 2023, reported anywhere from 28.93 to 34.4 depending on the source. The toolkit is an open-source library in which all relevant financial ratios (200+), indicators and performance measurements are written out as transparent formulas, so you can see exactly how each number is calculated.
It covers historical prices, financial statements, ratios, financial models, options and Greeks, performance metrics and risk metrics, and also fetches treasury rates that serve as the risk-free rate for calculations such as the Sharpe ratio. Install with `pip install financetoolkit -U`. By default it uses Financial Modeling Prep for data, which needs an API key (the free plan allows 250 requests a day), and the README says it automatically falls back to Yahoo Finance if that source fails. The README contains an affiliate link for a discounted Financial Modeling Prep plan. The code is MIT licensed.
