Gemini MCP Tool is a small MCP server that lets an AI assistant such as Claude Code talk to Google's Gemini CLI. The stated goal is to use Gemini's large context window from inside Claude Code, to analyze big files and save tokens, and to brainstorm with both models. You ask in plain language, for example "ask gemini to analyze @src/main.js and explain what it does"; the `@` syntax includes files or directories, and general questions without files work too.

The main tool is `ask-gemini`, with a required prompt, an optional model (the README says the default is gemini-2.5-pro) and an optional sandbox flag that runs Gemini CLI's sandbox mode so risky code can be tested in isolation. Requirements are Node.js 16 or newer and the Google Gemini CLI installed and configured. Setup in Claude Code is one line, `claude mcp add gemini-cli -- npx -y gemini-mcp-tool`, then `/mcp` to verify; Claude Desktop uses an `npx` entry in its config file, or a global install with the `gemini-mcp` command. Full documentation is on GitHub Pages and the project is MIT licensed.
