n8n-mcp
n8n-MCP is an MCP server that gives AI assistants deep knowledge of n8n, so tools like Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor and Windsurf can design and build n8n workflows for you. It provides structured access to thousands of n8n nodes (core and community), their properties, operations and documentation, AI-capable tool variants, real-world example configurations and a library of workflow templates.
It is aimed at n8n users who want to describe an automation in plain language and have an assistant produce a correct workflow, and at consultants who build many workflows. With your n8n API URL and key configured, additional tools can create and manage workflows on your instance directly. The author is explicit about safety: never let AI edit production workflows directly; copy workflows, test in a development environment and keep backups. A companion project, n8n-skills, provides skills for Claude Code.
Getting started: the fastest route is the hosted dashboard, which has a free tier of 100 tool calls per day. To self-host, follow the project's guide for npx, Docker, Railway or local installation, and add `N8N_API_URL` and `N8N_API_KEY` if you want workflow management tools.
