cuga-agent
CUGA, the Configurable Generalist Agent, is an Apache-2.0 enterprise agent harness built with IBM that turns business requests into actions across applications, APIs, documents and web interfaces. It targets organizations that need sovereignty: run the harness in your own environment, connect privately hosted models and tools, and preload model artifacts for disconnected deployments.
Control comes through execution policies that block disallowed intents, require approval for selected tools, guide workflows with playbooks and add tool-level guards. A manager UI lets you connect MCP servers, OpenAPI services and Python tools, configure policies beside a draft chat, and test an agent before publishing a version. For efficiency it lets you choose open models, tune reasoning modes, shortlist relevant tools, set tool-call budgets and inspect per-run token receipts. CugaSupervisor coordinates specialized agents, and a separate events service runs agents on schedules, webhooks and application events.
Example workflows include revenue operations reporting with approval on CRM updates, knowledge assistance with citations, and combined browser and API automation. Install from source with Python 3.12 and uv, then uv run cuga start manager --crm for the demo; a Kubernetes deployment guide, a Python SDK, CUGA Apps and a Harness Kit are also available.
