Agent Landing Zone is the renamed and broadened GPT-RAG project from Azure. It provides infrastructure-as-code to stand up a secure, network-isolated environment for AI agent applications on Microsoft Foundry, with a Zero-Trust architecture as the reference design. Old aka.ms/gpt-rag links redirect to its documentation.

You can deploy three ways: the full stack (infrastructure plus the default agent app), infrastructure only, or your own application on top of the foundation. The default app is split into separate repositories for the UI, the orchestrator and an optional ingestion service, with versions for each release pinned in manifest.json. Templates are Azure Developer CLI compatible.

Guides

The repository itself is a thin entry point: the real deployment guides live on the AI Landing Zones documentation site. It targets teams already committed to Azure. License is MIT.

This write-up is based on the project's README and public repository data. We have not hand-tested the tool. Data as of 2026-10-22.

01

Features

01Zero-Trust network architecture for enterprise agent workloads
02Three deploy modes: full stack, infrastructure only, or custom application
03Separate UI, orchestrator and optional ingestion components with versions pinned in manifest.json
04Azure Developer CLI (azd) compatible templates
02

Why choose it

+Zero-Trust networking is the reference design rather than an afterthought, which suits regulated enterprises.
+Infrastructure-only mode lets you reuse the secure foundation for your own agent application.
+Component versions are pinned per release in manifest.json, making deployments reproducible.
03

Trade-offs

!Tied to Azure and Microsoft Foundry; not useful outside that ecosystem.
!The repository is a thin entry point, so you depend on the external docs site for every step.
!An enterprise landing zone is heavy for prototypes or small teams.
