blender-mcp
Blender MCP connects Blender to any LLM through the Model Context Protocol for prompt-assisted 3D modelling, scene creation and manipulation. It has two components: a Blender addon (addon.py) that creates a socket server inside Blender to receive and execute commands, and a Python MCP server (src/blender_mcp/server.py) that implements the protocol and talks to the addon.
Features listed in the README include two-way communication over a socket, creating, modifying and deleting objects, applying materials and colours, inspecting the current scene, running arbitrary Python code in Blender from the assistant, and asset and model generation from Poly Haven, Sketchfab and AI services such as Hyper3D Rodin and Hunyuan3D. The quick start is four steps: install uv with the official installer, add the server to your MCP client (for Claude Desktop the config runs `uvx blender-mcp`, for Claude Code `claude mcp add blender uvx blender-mcp`), install the addon with `uvx blender-mcp install-addon`, then start the server from the BlenderMCP tab in Blender.

Who it fits
- You work in Blender for 3D modeling, rendering, or level design and want to direct AI agents via natural language to build and modify meshes and shaders.
- You want to automate asset sourcing from Poly Haven, Sketchfab, and 3D generative APIs (Rodin, Hunyuan3D) directly onto your 3D viewport.
- Your workflow is inside game engines like Unity or Unreal Engine rather than DCC tools; use dedicated Unity-MCP or UE5-MCP instead.
- You are not familiar with Blender's pipeline and only want a simple web-based image-to-3D generator without local DCC software.
How it differs
Blender-MCP targets Digital Content Creation (DCC), polygon modeling, and offline rendering; Unity-MCP focuses on game engine hierarchies, component lifecycles, and interactive game logic.
Both bridge AI into creative desktop suites: Blender-MCP operates on 3D geometry and scenes, while DaVinci Resolve MCP controls video editing and grading.
