llm-for-zotero
llm-for-zotero is a Zotero plugin that puts an LLM assistant in the reader sidebar. You can ask about the current PDF, selected text or figure screenshots (up to 10), upload extra files such as DOCX or PPTX, and type / to pull another open paper into the conversation. The first message loads the paper, follow-ups use focused retrieval, and citations jump back to the matching passage.
Agent Mode extends this to the whole library: reading, searching, tagging, metadata, import, note editing and organization, with 8 built-in skills and a portal for your own. It can also search the web through Tavily. Answers and full conversations can be saved as Zotero notes or Markdown in folders like Obsidian or Logseq, and MinerU parsing improves extraction of tables, equations and figures.
Backends are flexible: API keys for OpenAI, Anthropic or Gemini-style protocols, local OpenAI-compatible models, ChatGPT WebChat, Codex App Server for ChatGPT Plus users, or an experimental Claude Code mode. Install by downloading the .xpi from Releases. License is AGPL-3.0.
