ripwire
ripwire describes itself as the ripgrep of AI context: point it at a repository and a coding agent gets a ranked, deterministic call graph (what to touch, what it breaks, which tests to run) instead of grepping and reading whole files. It is a single binary that runs offline on your machine, with no API key, embeddings, index server or daemon. The README lists 21 vendored tree-sitter grammars, including Rust, C++, Python, Go, TypeScript, Java and C#. A query such as `ripwire . --for="incremental cache invalidation"` returns one token-budgeted answer with the ranked symbols, their callers, risk annotations (complexity, git churn, change amplification, test coverage) and a confidence label, and `--html` writes a self-contained map you can open in a browser.
The installer script also activates task-shaped skills for agents it finds on the machine, such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Windsurf, Gemini, opencode and aider; an MCP server is an optional second interface. The README is long (over 100k characters) and contains benchmark tables comparing token use and retrieval accuracy with other tools, plus an "honesty contract" section about what it misses. Those numbers are the project's own measurements. It is Apache-2.0 licensed.
