The NVIDIA AI Blueprint for Video Search and Summarization (VSS) is a set of reference architectures for building vision agents and AI-powered video analytics. The README says it combines accelerated vision microservices, vision language models and LLMs, and that this repository powers NVIDIA's build experience for natural-language video agents (search, summarization, visual Q&A). It is organized into real-time video intelligence (features, embeddings and stream understanding published to a message broker), downstream analytics (turning metadata into trajectories, incidents and verified alerts) and agentic and offline processing (search, Q&A, summarization and clip retrieval, including via MCP).

Guides

It lists five reference agent workflows: Q&A and report generation on short clips, alert verification (object detection and tracking with a VLM check to reduce false positives), real-time alerts from continuous streams, video search over archives using embeddings (marked alpha), and long-video summarization by chunking and aggregating dense captions. Models named include Cosmos3 Nano Reasoner and Nemotron-Nano-9B-v2 through NVIDIA NIM. Typical uses given are smart-space monitoring, warehouse automation and SOP validation.

The README says the blueprint requires technical expertise and has hardware and prerequisite sections, so check those before planning a deployment. The quickstart uses Docker Compose from the `deploy` directory. The repository holds a Python agent service and a Next.js UI, among other components. GitHub did not detect an SPDX license, so read the license section of the README and repository. It was last pushed on 2026-10-12. This review is based on the README and repository data; we have not run it ourselves.

This write-up is based on the project's README and public repository data. We have not hand-tested the tool. Data as of 2026-10-20.

Features

01Real-time video intelligence with feature extraction and embeddings
02Agentic workflows for natural language video search, Q&A, and summarization
03Downstream analytics for metadata enrichment and alert verification
04Leverages NVIDIA NIM microservices, VLMs, and LLMs for AI-powered video analytics
02

Why choose it

+Reference architectures from NVIDIA for video search, Q&A, summarization and alerts, with five documented agent workflows
+Agent layer exposes video analytics through the Model Context Protocol
+Real-time, downstream-analytics and offline layers, with VLM verification to reduce false alerts
+Docker Compose quickstart; actively maintained, last push 2026-10-12
03

Trade-offs

!Heavy: the README lists hardware requirements and says it needs technical expertise, and it relies on NVIDIA NIM models
!Video search is marked alpha in the README
!GitHub did not detect an SPDX license, so check the license terms before using it commercially
