Active·★ 14·MIT·Updated 2026-09-22
This project wraps the powerful Microsoft.Diagnostics.Runtime (ClrMD) library to analyze .NET memory dumps. It provides both a command-line tool (`dndump`) and a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server, allowing AI assistants or users to perform detailed .NET memory dump analysis.

Features
01Detailed Object Inspection: View object fields and values, and trace garbage collector roots to understand object retention.
02Managed Thread and Stack Analysis: List all managed threads, their states, and obtain stack traces for debugging.
03System Module and Deadlock Detection: List loaded assemblies/modules and analyze synchronization blocks to detect deadlocks.

Quick start
1
$ dotnet pack src/DotNetDump.Cli/DotNetDump.Cli.csproj -c Release -o ./nupkg
2
$ dotnet tool install --global --add-source ./nupkg dndump

Use cases
↳AI-assisted .NET memory dump analysis using MCP clients like Claude Desktop or Cursor.
↳Diagnosing memory leaks and Out-Of-Memory (OOM) errors in .NET applications.
↳Detecting deadlocks and analyzing unhandled exceptions from crash dumps.
↳Performing cross-platform .NET dump analysis (e.g., Linux dump on macOS) using Docker containers.
