PyWry
PyWry is a cross-platform rendering engine and UI toolkit for Python with one API and three output targets: a native window using the operating system's webview through PyTauri (not Qt or Electron), a Jupyter widget for JupyterLab, VS Code and Colab, and a browser tab served by FastAPI with a Redis state backend for scaling out. The idea is to prototype a data app in a notebook, deploy it as a web app, and compile it into a standalone desktop executable with the pywry[freeze] extra.
It includes toolbar components such as buttons, selects, sliders and modals defined as Pydantic models, two-way events between Python and JavaScript, Plotly and AgGrid integrations, a streaming chat widget with pluggable providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, Magentic, Agent Client Protocol and LangChain Deep Agents), and extended TradingView charts. Its MCP server lets Claude Desktop, Claude Code or Cursor drive widgets, charts and dashboards, and the repository also ships a Claude Code plugin with the same tools, a skill, slash commands and a subagent.
