The data.gouv.fr MCP server lets AI chatbots such as Claude, Gemini and Cursor search, explore and analyze datasets from data.gouv.fr, the French national open data platform, through conversation instead of manual browsing. It is built on the official Python SDK for MCP and uses the Streamable HTTP transport. The README documents tools for datasets (static data files), dataservices (external APIs) and metrics, and a hosted endpoint at `https://mcp.data.gouv.fr/mcp` that it recommends.

Connecting is one config entry per client: ChatGPT, Claude Desktop (via `mcp-remote`), Claude Code (`claude mcp add --transport http datagouv https://mcp.data.gouv.fr/mcp`), Gemini CLI, Mistral Vibe CLI, AnythingLLM, VS Code, Cursor and Windsurf all have instructions. To self-host, clone the repository and run `docker compose up -d`, with environment variables for host, port and the target environment (production or demo data.gouv.fr). The README recommends binding to `127.0.0.1` for local development and includes pytest instructions. It is MIT licensed.
