Memorix is an MCP server that gives AI coding agents persistent memory shared across Cursor, Windsurf, Claude Code, Codex, VS Code Copilot, Antigravity and Kiro. The README's pitch is that you stop re-explaining your project every session, and that context follows you when you switch IDE or hand the project to a teammate's agent. Setup is one npx entry in the agent's MCP config, with no API keys, cloud accounts or extra dependencies.

Its smart memory layer exposes 17 MCP tools: it classifies stored observations into nine types, extracts entities into a knowledge graph, and retrieves with three-layer progressive disclosure (search, detail, timeline) to save tokens. Other features include memory retention scoring that flags stale items, a local web dashboard with a D3.js graph, cross-agent workspace sync for MCP servers and rules (converting between .mdc, CLAUDE.md and Kiro steering formats), and generation of SKILL.md files from observed patterns. Search is BM25 by default with optional local vector search, and memories are isolated per project using the git remote URL.

This write-up is based on the project's README and public repository data. We have not hand-tested the tool. Data as of 2026-10-17.

Trade-offs

!Semantic search is optional and needs an extra package (fastembed or @huggingface/transformers) installed; the default is BM25 keyword search.
!Memory quality depends on what agents store through the tools, and each supported agent needs its own MCP config entry.
