awesome-mcp-servers is one of the most popular curated lists of Model Context Protocol servers on GitHub. It collects servers you install and run yourself, organised into dozens of categories such as browser automation, databases, developer tools, finance, knowledge and memory, search and security, plus sections on frameworks, tutorials, community resources and tips.

It is a good starting point when you are looking for an MCP server for a particular service or task and want to see what exists before choosing. Each entry links to the repository, many carry legend icons for implementation language and local or cloud operation, and many include a quality and maintenance score badge from Glama, an MCP directory associated with the list's maintainer. Hosted servers you connect to over a URL are kept in a separate list, awesome-remote-mcp-servers, and MCP clients in awesome-mcp-clients.

How to use it: browse the table of contents or search the page for the service you need, then evaluate candidates before installing them. Our guide "How to Choose an MCP Server" offers a checklist covering publisher, maintenance, permissions, transport, credentials and licensing.

Features

01Curated list of MCP servers (production-ready and experimental)
02Enables AI models to securely interact with local and remote resources
03Extends AI capabilities via file access, database connections, and API integrations
04Categorized implementations across diverse domains like databases, art, and developer tools
05Supports various programming languages and operating systems for server development
02

Why choose it

+Very broad coverage, organised into clear categories.
+Legend icons and quality badges help with a first pass.
+Separate companion lists for remote servers and clients keep the main list focused.
+Free and community maintained, with frequent additions.
03

Trade-offs

!Inclusion is not a security review; many listed servers are small personal projects, so evaluate each before installing.
!The list is very long, so finding the best option for a common task still takes effort.
!Quality badges come from Glama, which is associated with the list's maintainer, and the README includes promoted placements; treat both as signals, not verdicts.

How it compares

≈vs wong2/awesome-mcp-servers and appcypher/awesome-mcp-servers: other curated lists with different scopes and curation styles; checking more than one helps.
≈vs the official MCP Registry: the registry is a structured service for publishing and discovering servers; this list is a human-curated README.
≈vs the AgentIndex MCP Servers category: our category adds categorisation, metadata and reviews for selected servers.
