BubbleLab

Bubble Lab is an open-source, TypeScript-native workflow automation platform built for developers who want control, transparency and type safety. Rather than locking you into proprietary JSON nodes, it represents workflows as composable TypeScript bubbles (integrations and tools) with branching and transformations, and lets you export them as clean code that runs anywhere.

Its headline features are prompt-to-workflow, where an AI assistant called Pearl generates and amends workflows from natural language, full observability with execution tracing, logs, token and cost tracking per service, import from n8n and other platforms, and instant export as TypeScript or an API. You can use the hosted Bubble Studio, run it locally with pnpm install and pnpm run dev, or scaffold a project with npx create-bubblelab-app. Pearl needs your own GOOGLE_API_KEY and OPENROUTER_API_KEY when run locally.

Features

01Prompt to Workflow: AI assistant generates and amends TypeScript workflows from natural language.
02Full Observability: Built-in execution tracing, detailed logs, token/cost usage, and performance metrics.
03Import from n8n/other workflow platform: Seamlessly migrate existing human-readable workflows.
04Export as TypeScript/API Instantly: Own and deploy clean, production-ready code anywhere.
05Type-safe: Full TypeScript support with proper interfaces for robust and reliable development.
02

Why choose it

+Workflows are TypeScript code you can export and run anywhere, not proprietary JSON nodes.
+Built-in tracing shows logs, token usage and cost per service, and performance metrics.
+Can describe a workflow in natural language and have Pearl generate or amend it.
+Imports workflows from n8n and similar platforms, and offers both a hosted studio and local setup.
03

Trade-offs

!Running the AI assistant locally needs your own Google and OpenRouter API keys, and the README says weaker models are not well tested.
!The n8n import relies on a model converting a human-readable workflow, so results depend on the model and may need review.
!It is developer-oriented and TypeScript-only, so it suits teams comfortable with code more than non-technical users.

Use cases

↳Automating complex agentic workflows with AI assistance.
↳Developing custom, type-safe data processing and integration pipelines.
↳Migrating and converting existing workflows from other platforms to code-based solutions.
07

How it compares

≈vs n8n: Bubble Lab centres on TypeScript code and export rather than a visual node graph stored as JSON.
≈vs writing automation scripts by hand: you get prebuilt integrations, tracing and cost tracking, plus AI-generated starting points.
